From Pastor Melinda

Welcome to Rev. Jack Lilley! Jack joins our staff as Interim Associate Pastor, having just retired at the end of February from Wheatland Presbyterian Church. Esther, Jack’s wife, has also retired from her nursing career. How joy-filled to have Jack with us into the summer on a half-time basis to preach, teach, and serve God with all of us at FVPC. This Sunday, Jack will preach on our Lord’s Prayer series, Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread. We will celebrate communion – Tina Barber will play the harp at both services – the Chancel Choir will sing. It will be a beautiful and meaningful time together!

Our Adult Education classes are exciting this week! Jack will be teaching the Luke class; Beverlee Ludema will continue the class on Forgiveness; and Loy Williams will begin the study of the book, The New Jim Crow.

We are so excited to have the Jamestown Choir return to FVPC for another of its wonderful concerts! Families who have hosted the choir members in the past have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so you may want to sign up for this. We will be inviting the choir members to join us in a potluck, and I know we will carry on FVPC’s famous hospitality by fellow-shipping and if possible, bringing a dish to pass. See the article below for details.
For all of us, it is vital to be a part of the Lenten journey. By worshiping and studying together, we become attuned to Christ’s grace and suffering. Come this Sunday – welcoming Jack and Esther – welcoming Christ into our hearts anew.
