It’s time to sign up for FVPC’s Adult Go N Serve to our very own Blackhawk Presbytery’s Stronghold Retreat and Conference Center in Oregon, IL. This service trip is planned to take place from Wednesday, September 7, through Saturday, September 10.
Stronghold provides a wide variety of church programs including children’s camps and retreats; church retreats; wilderness camping; religious-based professional development programs; the annual Olde English Faire in which the Fisher Folk youth from FVPC participate; and much, much more. Presently, it has a very real and pressing need for volunteers to assist in building maintenance and repairs, as well as natural resource restoration work on its grounds.
Our Adult Go N Serve team will be staying in Hickory Lodge with all meals provided by Stronghold staff. Come and join us for this important local service project helping with the work and enjoying the good fellowship. The cost is $40.00 ($10.00 per day) for each participant.
Families are welcome for Friday overnight and/or a work day on Saturday. We will offer a Friday family dinner at 5:30 pm, followed by a tour of Stronghold Castle and a campfire, and lunch on Saturday. Family costs are $20.00 per family for Friday night and Saturday work day, or $10.00 per family for Saturday work day only.
A registration form is available by clicking below. Paper copies are available in the Lower Gathering Space. Registration forms are due no later than Thursday, August 26. If you are planning to go, or have any questions, please contact Howard Strong (630-232-4724).
